“As the only son of my parents, and with three sisters, I bear the entire burden, of tilling the fields as well as raising the cattle. We are the only Kashmiri Pandit family left among the thousands of Muslims across several surrounding villages. Though our neighbourhood is kind and supportive, I often feel isolated and left out. The only time I feel a sense of belonging is during Jyeshtha Ashtami at Ma Kheer Bhawani temple in Tulamula when I am among my community of Kashmiri Pandits. A nagging sense of uncertainty about the future often suffocates me.”
