RITU Exhibition- Art Positive

RITU

Curator's Note

tu

The exhibition ‘tu’ intends to offer an experience of annual cycle of the year through the switch and change of the seasons. The artworks inspired through celebrations and festivals of each season also give an intimate taste of the concept of rta (the cosmic order, the value of the whole creation) in our everyday life. An exhibition of art works stirred by the various seasons of this sub-continent, a subtle, periodic occurrences of the natural world that marks the passing year.

Right now, monsoon has hit India, and it is one of the most eagerly anticipated weather phenomena sustaining lives, transforming landscapes, and raising human spirits. As an integral feature of South Asian life, the rains have long been celebrated in various mythologies, rituals, communal observances, and poetic expressions.   The inspirational point of some of the works were drawn from such faiths, myths and anecdotes while some are deeply conscious of the various moods and emotions that each season carries. Whereas some of the works are an expansion of the artist’s ongoing exploration into the concepts of time and transition. Where some artists have drawn awareness to seasonal shifts in weather, temperature, light and natural phenomena, which are articulated through forms and colours.

The exhibition representing each season is like paying reverence to nature’s fleeting beauty and the passage of time. It can be read as a practice of acute awareness to time with subtle observations of nature.
