About The Artist
Having completed his MFA in Painting from Kala Bhavan, Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, Satadru Sovan Banduri is a painter and video artist currently based in New Delhi. A Fulbright Research Scholarship at an early stage in his career, to the University of California in USA for a Masters degree program, helped him evolve his interest and expertise in digital art and new media, an area that he continues to work in. Focusing on the restricted sexuality and latent fantasizing that he feels is endemic to his native India, he creates art that is colorful and fun filled besides conceptual under layers. His works highlights the way in which Consumerism consumes peoples individuality and turns them into larger than life entities. Starting work with digital media, while it was still an unexplored genre in India, Banduri fascinated by information technology and the digital revolution, has been experimenting in the genre by inter mixing his painted imagery in a digital context. Working as an independent artist, he has participated in several regional, national and international art shows.
