About The Artist
Born in 1973, Kerala. George Martin P.J. studied sculpture, passing his BFA from the College of Fine Arts in Thiruvanthapuram and MFA from the Government College of Art & Craft in Kolkata, both with merit. He worked at the LKA Regional Centre in Chennai and taught art for a brief stint before turning into a full time freelance artist. Known for his bright and colorful work, be it a painting, sculpture or installation, his versatile creativity appears engagingly energetic. The density of his compositions, the exuberance of his imagination and the depth of his conceptual framework primarily in abstraction add up to make work that rotates around today’s urban and multi cultural society and metro life. The first recipient of Art India Magazine’s Promising Artist Award, George Martin has also been a winner of the Kashi Visual Art Award, Bodhi Best Student Award and Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi Award. Exhibited in important solo and group shows at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai and Bangalore his work has also been included in expositions held in London, Bangkok, Dubai and Sydney amongst others and is part of important private and corporate collections in India and abroad. George now lives and works in New Delhi.
