About The Artist
Born in Tamil Nadu, Elanchezhiyan did his BFA and MFA in Sculpture from the Govt. College of Fine Arts, Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu, after which he completed his M. Phil in Sculpture in 2009-2010 from the Tamil University, Thanjavur. His output is prodigious and impeccable, and he has exhibited in many solo and group .`shows, a few of which are mentioned here – College of Fine Arts, Kumbakonam –2003; Mahua Gallery, Bangalore – 2007; Bajaj Art Gallery, Mumbai – 2007 (Beyond boundaries); The Gallery Cork London – 2007; Fine Art and Literature, New Delhi– 2007; Guyana Art Gallery, Singapore -2007; Birla Academy of fine Arts, Kolkata,Golden Brush-2008; Concern India Foundation,Mumbai-2009; Madras Canvas2010 ,Malaysia; Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai-2010. Elanchezhiyan has received many awards and accolades, some among them being –Brad fest award of Bharathidasan University, 2004; National Scholarship2005-2007, Ministry of Culture ,New Delhi; All India Best Sculpture Award Arayana2008,Kolkata and College of fine Arts, Tanjore; and National Junior Fellowship2010-2012, Ministry of Culture, New Delhi.
