About The Artist
Born in 1963, in Kerala, Bose Krishnamachari studied painting at the Kerala Kala Peetom in Cochin before completing his BFA from Sir J.J.School of Arts, Mumbai and subsequently did his Masters at Goldsmiths College, London on a Charles Wallace India Trust Award. Bose has been experimenting with painting, photography, design aaa taschen and sculptural assemblage and installations. His abstract work appears in thick layers of provocative colours, one over the other maddening the visual perception with no decipherable geometric shape, no vanishing point for contemplation but only an upfront force of rioting colours ready to overwhelm the viewer. Certain themes recur in the artist’s intellectually strong work as he delves on the idea of a museum- revisiting, archiving and putting under erasure the very processes of documentation and living history in nexus with their relevance in contemporary context. Bose has also curated a series of seminal shows including a visual library installation LAVA and DE-CURATING a memorabilia of 94 Indian contemporary artists. His work has been exhibited in many solo and group shows, including those held at Mumbai, New Delhi and Tokyo. Recipient of many awards including the Kerala LKA Award, Bombay Art Society Prize, Mid America Arts Alliance Award, First Runner up at Bose Pacia Modern Biannual New York, Bose has been voted Face of 93 in the field of visual art by Illustrated Weekly of India. He lives and works in Mumbai.
