About The Artist
Born in 1966,Thrissur in Kerala. Murali Cheeroth passed his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in fine art both from Kalabhavan, & Santiniketan in West Bengal. His work experience includes teaching art and design at various professional courses in Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Chennai and he also successfully pursued an advanced course in digital media, before turning to full time art practice. Murali works in a variety of media- painting, photography, videos, printmaking and also theatre. His visual language rotates around the surrounding culture encompassing architecture, cinema, popular media and performing arts. The city, its urban culture and fast changing landscape constantly being rebuilt are explored in much of his current paintings and video work. The ideas of re-construction and technology and the fast track changes they bring in social patterns are some of the subjects that are represented in his visuals. A recipient of Kanoria Scholarship for Print Making and Kerala State Lalit Kala Academy award for his art in general, Murali is an avid traveler and has organized several workshops.
