Known for his wit, humour and sarcasm that flavours his observation of the mundane, Farhad works with a stylized imagery that comes from his day-to-day visual experience. In this series he has however taken several steps out what is expected of him, with a reference to popular culture, mythology with serval references to Lord Ganpati, Lord Shiva and Nandu. He also brings a few chuckles on gender reversal with a woman grabbing the drivers’ reigns in an auto rickshaw and a man reaching for a bottle of ketchup in another work. Even in the realm of materiality he has worked with embroidery-stitching on textile and printing on fabric to create his work. Various elements from miniature paintings, Kalighat paintings, Japanese prints and images from mass media are scrutinized, transformed and transferred on to the surface through the artists own style of expression. He always enjoys the last laugh.
