About The Artist

Shail Choyal born in 1945, Kota. He studied painting first at Udaipur University, and then from Jaipur before taking up a year’s study in printmaking at the Slade College in London on a British Council scholarship. On his return, he did his Doctoral thesis on ‘Nathdwara Painting’. A painter, printmaker and teacher, his large body of work adorns a distinctive miniature lineage. Appearing in a narrative idiom, it entails a juxtaposition of the allegorical with the real.
