About The Artist
Born in 1965, Tamluk. Paresh Maity trained in Fine Art from the Govt. College of Art & Craft in the city, from where he passed his Degree with a Gold Medal. He later shifted to Delhi for his Master’s in Fine Art from the Delhi College of Art again winning a Gold Medal. A rare excellence in transparent watercolors, in large or small format, that captures the nuances of light and shade marks his masterly skill in the medium. His talent and creativity extends to include oils and mixed media works that form a large part of his impressive body of work. An avid traveler, fine photographer, skilled designer, keen observer and a great storyteller, Paresh’s work not just in landscapes or figuration but also abstraction and installations, brings alive people, places, stories and ideas that he encounters during his various sojourns. A fine play of finesse and sensuality, eroticism and romanticism marks much of his narrative work with a touch of folk lore. The impressive body of Paresh’s work of the first 25 years of his career has been documented in a large illustrated book published in 2005. With nearly 50 solo shows patek philippe replica and participation in many more group exhibitions in India and at international venues, including the Cleveland International Drawing Biennale and Triennale India, Paresh’s work has won him critical acclaim and it can be seen in some of the national and international collections and museums including the British Museum London, National Gallery of Modern Art Delhi. The awards to his credit include the Royal Watercolor Society Award, Governors Gold Medal- Kolkata and AIFACS Award amongst others. Paresh lives in Delhi and works from his studio in the city.
