About The Artist

Born in 1974, Rajasthan. Mukesh Sharma did his initial training in art at the School of Art in Jaipur and followed it up with an MFA in printmaking from MSU Vadodara and then an artist’s residency in Australia. Combining the artistic traditions of the region with a contemporary international sensibility Mukesh paints and prints to express with total abundance and free of any academic compulsions. Etching with stencils and linoleum, drawing and painting on canvas or paper and increasingly now newer forms in multimedia, he features the surrounding world and his rural surroundings. His canvases tend to be large with glimpses of nature, village life, mud walls, water huts, goats and horses sometimes as direct images and at others in impressions. Inundating the surface with collage of images in bright colours, he creates a rhythmic tension with sequenced motifs.
