Two Kashmiri Pandit brothers sit amid the ruins of a Kashmiri Pandit house. In 1998, several homes, including this one, were burnt down in a massacre. The Wandhama massacre was committed on January 25, 1998, in the village of Wandhama. Unidentified gunmen, allegedly militants, killed 23 Kashmiri Pandits, including women and children. The victims were shot, and their homes set ablaze. This incident intensified the exodus of Pandits from the region, who were already fleeing due to escalating violence. Despite investigations, the perpetrators were never conclusively identified or brought to justice.
