Once, a journalist told me, “Kashmiri Pandits live in luxurious camps built by the government.” Curious, I went to Jammu to see this so-called luxurious life. I visited the Jagti Camp, located on the outskirts of Jammu, India. This camp is home to many Kashmiri Pandits who were displaced from their homes in the Kashmir Valley. Approximately 20,000 people reside in the Jagti camp, which was established to provide shelter and support to the displaced community.
Their "luxurious" life was summarized in two small bedrooms, where three generations of a household lived after losing their big beautiful houses and comfortable lives in Kashmir.
