Sangam Vankhade, born in 1991 in Gujarat, completed his BVA (2013) and MVA (2016) in Sculpture from MSU, Baroda. His solo exhibition includes “Even Stones Tell Stories”, Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad (2018). He had been a recipient of many awards and scholarships including “Scogliera Viva -Sculpturing the Sea” International Award (2018) Italy; Prafulla Dahanukar Award (2017-18); Abir Award, Ahmedabad (2016); Gujarat State Award, (2015 -17). Sangam’s sculptures are miniature versions of heritage sites around the country. He is concerned about the fate of monuments and the complete lack of sensitivity of contemporary times to conserve and save them. He attempts to bring out the neglect and apathy these sites suffer at the hands of urbanisation. The artist lives and works in Baroda.
