My Summer Garden:
An exhibition, talk and art workshop on environment

From the day we are born, we perceive the world in all its materiality with the five elements of earth, water, air, fire and ether. With its solidity the earth plays host to the soil and its minerals and a vast abundance of flora and fauna. Since visual Art is a physical embodiment, it has a proclivity for incorporating the natural elements, by virtue of its pure materiality and its appeal to the act of perception art has often been considered the sixth element. It appears as an almost seamless transition from the realm of philosophy to that of physical reality.

Mankind has often taken for granted the infinite nature of the elements and our planet is struggling to cope with its rapid consumption and depletion. This exhibition intends to hold a beacon of hope and awareness upon the interdependence of our species and these elements of nature.

The exhibition workshop and slideshow-talk, peruses local flowers and birds and how it impacts our surroundings, artwork and our economy. This three pronged approach aims to sensitize children and young adults, towards the idea of indigenous and imported flowers and migratory and local birds, who tell us their story of travel.
